Biography

Molly Anderson

At 14 Molly worked at her local movie theatre and absolutely loved it. Little did she know; theatres would become a big part of her life.

Molly started working at the young age of 10, and has been working ever since. She has had lots of different jobs over the years, including being a self-proclaimed “traveling hairdresser” doing people’s hair in their own homes. She married her college sweetheart, Matt in 1993 and they moved back to Matt’s hometown of Mt. Pleasant in 1999. They started working at the theatres that were then owned by Matt’s parents. Molly laughed as she recalled how Matt would say “I’m just a popcorn jerk,” referencing the old name “soda jerk” given to drug store clerks that would serve soda.

In 2004 Molly and Matt took over the family business. Molly loves being able to interact with the community as she works at the theatres throughout the week: making deliveries and checking up on employees. Molly knows the importance of customer service and says that “nothing is better than seeing our customers every week.” She knows many people in the community and always radiates her warmth and hospitality. Since Matt and Molly took over the theatres Molly has done the “books”. She also takes a trip up north every week for theatre supplies to ensure the freshness of their food.

Recently, Molly has opened a restaurant called Abundance next to the Towne Theatre so she can do what she loves: feeding people delicious food. It serves the drive-in burgers everyone loves and more.

Molly is amiable toward everyone. Despite her busy work schedule, she loves spending time with her husband and her three sweet, loud, and rambunctious children.

Pullout quote: “I’m just a popcorn jerk” or “Nothing is better than seeing our customers every week.”

Description

This biography was about one of the owners of the Sanpete movie theaters. It talks of her career past and puts in light how hard she works and how much she cares about what she does. I wanted to show how caring Molly was and how she is loved in the community.  The target audience was local movie-goers.
