Time to break out the crayons.

This week for What if Wednesday, my amazing dad picked out my two pins. This was different than my past What if Wednesdays because my dad is 1. male and 2. not an active Pinterest user. The teacher in him truly shone and he chose a two templates for teachers: Halloween Don't Eat Pete and a Map of South America. My dad is great.

The Vote

The Map of South America won in the Instagram poll. I guess it was time I learned some geography.

Getting Started

I printed out a few of the maps from this blog post about teaching a unit centered around South America. Pretty cool, and quite useful if you are teaching young kids. Or, if you need to brush up on your South American geography.

Denny's, Friend, and Coloring

My two wonderful friends, Kelly and Alyssa, invited me to Denny's, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to color my map.

After we ordered our food, I pulled out a bag of crayons and my maps, like a mother of four during church. They both willingly joined in. Alyssa helped me immensely in identifying where the countries were. She lived in Brazil for a 1.5 years (on an LDS mission), so she was the booth expert.

There were more countries than we had colors, so Kelly repeated some, I did some darker than others, and Alyssa drew the Brazilian flag in Brazil.

Nailed it. Kelly was trying to recreate this meme, and I think she really mastered it. Look at those Nike swoosh eyebrows.

The Results

Of course, I was the last to finish. It was probably because I was talking so much. I also had grease stains and titled my map with my left hand, to truly make it authentic.

Fridge Worthy

I hung our masterpieces on my fridge. It just seemed like where they belonged.

Final Thoughts

This idea was so fun! It was good to learn more about South America and I love coloring.

I really think that coloring at a restaurant with friends should become a common thing. It allows you to talk and laugh and spend more time just being together. Maybe in the future I will have a coloring party. It's such a great stress reliever for me.
